    Default Traktor Pro/4Trak Latency Problems

Hi All, hope i can get some help here.
I have a brand new MacBook Pro that i'm trying to setup a newly purchased Numark 4trak controller with Traktor Pro (latest version).
I keep getting major latency problems (there is a delay between pressing a button or moving jog wheel to the sound changing) or distortion/echo like noise, this changes depending on what i set the latency to.
I have all the up to date maps, drivers for the 4trak and latest up to date Yesomite OSX.
Frustrated beyond belief and any help would be appreciated .

Probably going to need a bit more info to work out whats going on.

    Firstly:
Whats the load meter showing? (It's at the top of the screen)
What exactly are your audio settings?

Screenshots of settings are useful if you could upload one for the audio setup that would highlight any issues there.

Load meter doesnt even got near 25%, no problem there
Audio settings screenshot here, i know the latency is high but thats the only way i can reduce latency, but thius does cause crackling/distortion noise every so often (which i found it goes away if i unplug the USB from the MAC and plug it back in).
I am currently testing the 4trak unit with no FX module plugged in, and with a new USB cable, this seems to be working ok so far... which might point to a faulty controller or FX unit or its built-in cable.

It looks like the problem is caused by either the FX unit, or the cables that go from the controller to FX unit to the Mac.
I used the controller with no FX unit plugged in, and it works perfectly, as soon as i plug the FX unit (in a different port or run controller through it) i start to get latency and distortion.
Very disappointing since the main reason for buying the 4trak is how i can play with effects using the FX unit.

It sounds like there is something odd, heres a few things you could try which might isolate the issue. I would advise you to export your settings so you can reload them later if necessary.

Remove all mapping including the 4Trak mapping in the controller manager tab of the settings (Make sure you have a copy somewhere so they can be reloaded).

Try using Traktor without the 4Trak - Using the MacBooks internal soundcard and mouse control. I would set the latency to be less then 20ms. Report back how it runs.

Plug in the 4Trak - does simply having it attached cause any issues?

Swap to using the 4Trak as the audio device. Again set the latency to something sensible (around 20ms). Does this cause any issues?

Create a new mapping. In the controller manager tab of the settings select add > generic midi. Set the in and out ports to the 4Trak. add an input control for play deck A. Is there any delay when starting and stopping the deck using the 4Trak.

    Adding midi control for play/pause
[Add in > Deck Common > Play Pause
Learn > push play button on 4Trak. Push learn again do it unhighlights
Make type button and interaction Mode toggle]

Following these steps should isolate if the 4Trak, it's audio interface or the mapping is the cause.

Look forward to finding out the results and hope you get the 4Trak working correctly.

No joy, the only way the 4trak works is if i completely disconnect the FX module and use the controller with a different USB lead to the one built-in.
The problem is one of two, its either the FX unit itself or the cables that connect the controller to the FX unit and from FX unit to the Mac. this is more than likely a USB3 / USB2 issue that i wont be able to resolve.
Might get rid of this controller and look into another one. *sigh*

Sounds like it is a dodgy fx bar. Should have no problem getting a refund as you've ruled out every other possible cause of the issues.

An new mac is more than capable of running any DJ software so new hardware should give you a much better experience.

Yeah i think i will have to get it swapped out, or go for something different.
Last night i plugged in my Kontrol X1 to go with the 4Trak, and use the effects on it, worked fine. I am 100% sure its the FX module, but what i dont know is if its the USB leads, FX module itself or a USB3>>USB2 issue.
