Ok, before you begin to bash me that I shouldn't thrown much money into this and simply get a cheap controller... (option as well)...
So, I'm thinking to get back into DJing. Long time ago I used to DJ a few sets with Ableton. And I've owned Technics 1200 turntables before on two occasions and Vestax and Pioneer 850 mixer. Not any more though.
I'm into deep house and tech house these days.
I want to get back into Djing. Mostly at my own parties and events at first. The latter are sometimes quite big though. We'll see where it would go from there.
I love the touch of vinyl and appreciate real beatmatching. Although I'm not that fluid in it.
I've been thinking of getting a Rane mp2015 Rotary. I know, I know. Expensive piece of thing. But I just love it. Something in it makes me want to play.
The question is what deck situation to build up next to it. I've been thinking to get two Technics 1200 and timecode vinyl and use Serato or Traktor. Which would make sense and would this setup make sense at all? I would also play some real vinyls, although my current record collection is not big.
And maybe someday later get one Traktor D2 kontroller in side, to control some stem tracks if those become more popular.
I figure this would set me back
Rane Mp2015 2700eur (or can go to Pioneer)
2 x Technics 1200 around 1000eur
Serato software, audio interface, timecode vinyls how much, what do I need here exactly?
I have used Traktor before a bit and other option is to with Traktor as well.
But I'm not a crazy effect guy and thinking if I get Rane mp2015 I will do most of my magic on that not on software.
I would actually love to learn on Pioneer gear as well as this I might be playing at some other places at. But I figure I can get Pioneer mixer (thinking Nexus900) and CDJ (thinking XDJ-1000?) I can get anyway, as I have to buy setup for my workplace and then I can always borrow it. So that's that.
One completely other route I was thinking, was to get Pioneer XDJ-RX, just to get me started right away.
But just it's only two channel mixer and I'm afraid when I later on upgrade my gear, this whole piece will be a bit pointless....
Thanks for you replies in front.
On top of everything else, I just would love to have that Rane rotary and vinyl players at home again.
