Default Can I just use a Numark M101 USB or do I need an audio interface?

Hi everyone, I'm new here, and pretty new to music production as well. I've been making beats for the past year or so on my MPC Element, but just by getting wav files of soul and jazz songs etc. off the internet and then sampling them. I've never actually gotten into recording samples from a record player and using audio interfaces and mixers and all that, but I really want to. I want to continue making beats from sampling only, not using any other instruments. I want to sample vinyl, and then also be able to record vinyl scratches over top of the beats for hooks etc. I just went out and bought an audio technica lp-120 because i heard it was a good turntable. I also understand that you need a crossfader for scratching, and then i'll need to get these samples/scratches into my computer into my MPC Essentials software that comes with my MPC Element. So I want to know if I can just use the Numark M101 USB for the purpose of getting the sound into my computer, as it says that it is an audio interface. But when I went to the store, the guy told me that I should still get an audio interface...Why? I understand audio interfaces have more inputs for more instruments but if I'm just recording samples and scratches from one turntable can I not just use the USB DJ Mixer? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

For what you are doing, the 101 should work fine. The audio quality is decent enough for sampling and sampling scratches. That fader is going to wear out super quick tho, just a heads up.
