    Default Suggest a Set up!

I'm currently looking at getting a new set up as my university set up.
I have Cdj's and a Xone92 mixer at home, which is perfect for what I want when im living in my family home. However, i don't want to bring this set up to Uni, because its too much money to risk getting broken/ stolen. I also really want to get a Roland Tr8 to play around with!

Money isn't a that limiting factor, but would rather not just be told to get a 3k set up

I currently have a Tractor S2, but this doesn't have Any inputs and has a faulty headphone jack.

    Options that ive thought about
    1) Traktor S5 and a Roland tr8 - Cost £900 cons- Can't actually input the tr8 into the S5
    2) A set of D2's and a mixer - Cost £1300+ cons- Will have to buy an expensive mixer to include 3 channels + audio card, PLUS getting a tr8 on top will be very expensive (at least 1.5k)
    3) 2 Technics + mixer + DVS - Cost £1300 cons- Not enough space at home for turntables Plus expensive with a tr8
    4) Tractor S8 + Roland Tr8 -Cost £1200 cons- expensive, and can't incorporate the S8 with my Xone-92 at home. Feel as if i would be wasting £800 to not be able to use at home.

Have i missed a potential set up that is better than these? Any thoughts and preferences as to what you guys would do?

    Thanks

    JP

Also forgot, I mix techno and house.

like to bring sounds in and take them out again. Currently playing a similar style to marco carola, with rollers and keeping the energy relentless.

hmmmm, is the only benefit of getting an S4 the ability to input external devices?

Once you go modular, you never go back...

It doesn't rhyme, but its the truth lol

    sound card; scarlet 2i4, audio 6/8 ~ 250 usd
    deck control; kontrol x1 ~ 200 usd
mixer; midi fighter twister, or a xone k1~ 210 usd

total; ~660 usd or about £450

you can use the sound card inputs 1/2 to incorporate the tr-8 into traktor. this will also be useful to use as your output.

the x1 will provide deck control, assuming youre using traktor.

midi fighter twister will allow you to use a 4 band eq, similar to the 92, and will also have banks that you can possibly use for deck control.

You don't have to plug the TR8 into your controller! You can connect them (controller+Aira) directly to the main mixer of the club. The tr8 has its master volume and every sound has a dedicated fader volume control. Finally, doing so, you don't loose any channel on your controller and you can mix all 4 tracks on Traktor, plus the tr8. Just leave up the faders on the mixer, put Aira's master at 12 o'clock, and use the sound volume faders on the aira to add sounds in your mix.

    have fun!

I personally have my TT's, Mixer, and MPD at University. So long as you can trust your roommates you should be fine. No need to buy another setup IMHO
