Default Traktor S5 vs Pioneer DDJ SR

    Hey everyone,

I am going to buy a DJ controller and I'm deciding between the DDJ SR and traktor s5. Could someone list the pros and cons of them, and what you think would be better please. Also suggest any other mid range controller please. Thanks

Jake, that's like comparing apples and bananas.
But your lack of understanding that does indicate that a better choice would be a classic controller (with jogwheels) like the DDJ-SR. I can also suggest Denon MC4000 or if really want to use Traktor software the NI S2/S4 mk2 line, it depends of course on your budget.

It depends if you're more interested in using the stems/remix decks features in traktor than the simplicity and easier ability to beatmatch & scratch in serato.

I recently picked an MC4000 as an online retailer here had a 24hour sale and I got a good discount on it along with a Serato DJ full version upgrade voucher. I had been previously looking at the DDJ-SR but the MC4000 (on sale) came in at £250 vs £400+ for the SR.

I've only been using the 4000 with Traktor so far and the mapping works well enough, will be trying Serato over Christmas though.

One thing worth pointing out is that the MC4000 has full length 100mm pitch faders which a lot of controllers (the SR included) in this price range don't have. Extremely impressed with it, the jog wheels are great (and a decent size), it's all steel construction, and is a very good size.

Despite being only 2 channel it is actually quite a bit larger than the 4 channel MC6000, and weighs a bit more too. The footprint is pretty much the same as the Traktor S4.

I discounted the S2/S4 as I can't get on with those tiny jog wheels but that's personal preference.

As pointed out though, the decision will come down to whether or not you want jog wheels.
