Roland Aria TR-8 Midi Sync delay with S4

Hey,

Just wondered if anyone had encountered the same issue as me when using a TR-8, I've succesfully sync'd the TR-8 to the S4 using a midi lead. The issue is that in order to sync the two and get the drum machine working you have to press the play/pause button one bar in advance (7/8) so that it engages on the new bar i.e. in time.

Now this isnt too much of a big deal so long as you get it right, but bearing in mind that I'm using an S4 which only allows the audio thru option, this can be quite risky, and its putting me off using it in a mix because of the potential for starting on the wrong beat.

Anyone got any suggestions on how to speed up the sync or a workaround? Currently thinking using the volume down on the TR-8 might be a way, definitely not ideal though.

tbh, the easiest solution is to just have it not synced. its a pain in the ass to get used to it at first, but then you don't have to worry about clicking buttons or the tr-8 to go out of time.

Yeah but unfortunately I'll have to invest in a new controller, with an independent mixer so that I can adjust the timing. The fine pitch dial is no substitute for a jog wheel.

The TR-8 holds pretty true when sync'd. I just wonder whether the latency is related to my S4 and it being a mk1?

Any further thoughts welcome
