So I was browsing Juno's music genres and came across Gabba, some sort of subgenre of hardcore. It looks as though Juno has a pretty big selection of it and I'm just curious if anyone on this forum plays it, or has seen anyone play it.

they are pretty big in europe dude, they have a large following in australia and i think in uk too, sometimes they are labelled "dutch hardcore" (uk hardcore is the happier sounding one with all the cheezy vocals)
if you're into the whole hard-dance thing , gabba is just one step away from something called 'hardstyle'
not really my cup of tea anymore but when i was a lot younger i used to be into them
oh yeah, I've made a gabba liveset one time when I got bored with the one I was working on... I took out 80% of the material, reduced musical complexity to kindergarden level, finally put overkill distortion on everything (and then some), cranked up the bpm beyond drum'n bass and pushed play.
amazingly enough, I've actually had fun for a few minutes, laughing my ass off at how bad it was...
then I deleted it. :D
Rotterdam Hardcore!!!!!
Thunderdome....EarthQuake....Mysteryland.
now THATS old skool!
Add that tiesto is is captain ID&T.....it used to be just HARDCORE!
:)
Too fast tho.....just waayyy too fast.
title should have 'why' in it :p
I used to be a bit of a hardstyle fan back in my days of... being confused musically.
If nothing else, listening to that music introduced me to the fact that electronic music has far too many subgenres and people get far too worked up about meaningless classification.
Haha :D
EDIT: 800 posts! Hot damn!
Gabba is like having a musical lobotomy.
It's like repeating a word over and over until it loses all meaning. At 180bpm until your ears bleed. Quite good fun!
