New School OR Old School
what do u guys prefer... use turntables or take ur midi controller.. how do u guys feel.. about it.. and were do u think the dj industry is headed.. ??
asking questions.. cuz I wanna get turntables.. but I think that a keyboard like the novation 25sl and my vci-100 is enough.. but don't really know.. right now..
I Checked midi controllers like numark control, IDj2, Cortex 300, hercules<< which is way too small.. but nice lil controller.. just trying to get different opinions on controllers and if u feel better than carrying turntables to every gig..
and can u do more with a keyboard and midi controller..
what do u guys think or have u seen the dmix600 or 300 and do u guys think the future of djing stays digital like ipods and hard drives instead of computers.. ?

Why do you want turntables? (whatever they are)
How do you want to use them?
Would I feel better carrying my messenger bag with: Laptop, Headphones, VCI-100, Interface on my back to a gig; or two turntables, a mixer, a bag/box of vinyl? I live close to a very urban area. If I can avoid driving I do.
The future is digital. Hell, the present is digital. There are just a lot of scared guys who don't want to admit that there is something better than what they know.
*shrug*

Floss Turntables... you don't need em.

I think its whatever you want or feel more comfortable with. In this forum everyone has taken the digital route because this is where we think we fit in. Some people believe there happy with CDJS because they like to browse a physical book. Others like the feel of wax on their tips, mainly djs that scratch. You should ask yourself that question how do you want to play your set.
In my opinion digital is my road, a controller is my vehicle and my destination is a gig.

to be honest, the only reason for a turntable is for
pitch bending
and
Scratching
Right now there is no midi product out there that does these things better than a turntable. However, in the next year that will change and you will be able to bend and scratch netter than ever before. So, I would get with the midi program and watch it evolve.

Well I have seen and heared some great things about the STanton SCS.1d MIDI controller.
That should be awesome, if my ideas are right about this one. ;)

The turntable was a great technology, while it lasted. These controllers and the software that comes with them, will allow the next generation of djs, to create a remix on the fly. I think it will bring the expectations of a dj to a new level.

as you know you have stumbled upon a mostly digital group of DJs here. While we all probobaly started on turntables --we took what we learned from that --and transfered it on over to controllers and software....
buying turntables is great if you want to scratch or even beatjuggle, heck even mix... however with this technology evolving everyday--you cannot go wrong going the digital route.
i spin dirty house ,electro and minimal....i do not need to scratch or even juggle...i want to mix my music and create some wild breakdowns and such...which is why i chose the software route...
if you are looking to get into digital world but want the turntables still ---maybe you should get traktor skratch and some turntables...at least that way you can see a glimpse of what we are experiencing with our controllers...
then after that maybe you can buy an inexpensive controller and hook it up to traktor...you can switch from traktor skratch to traktor correct?....
all in all you cant go wrong with digital...its not just the future...its the present...and everyone on this board is embracing it.
