S4 Phenomena routine - instant FX mapping

Hi,

could anyone help me to realize a mapping of the S4 as seen on the "phenomena routine video", it s the same that i used on the vestax vci 100 se but i have problem for mapping the s4, it 's so difficult.

i want to use the load button in jog mode / FX but it commands the parameter 3 of the effect only, I can add the on/off function of one effect by pushing the jog, but i can't add the dry/wet funtion by turning it...

i don't see any trace of the param3 that is controlled by the jog in my mapping, but it s the case in practice...

so, plz help

The easiest way is to map it to the X1. Currently it is a bit of a crime to remap the S4 as it is pretty limitted.

If you tell me the effects you need and describe the way you want it to work that helps. And yes I can watch the routine but he uses more then 1 effect so probably best if you describe what you want in detail.

i just want to activate an effect mode by pression the load button
as in jog mode / FX in the preferences of S4 control

i want to activate (on/off) one parameter (one effect in goup mode) by touching the jog and control the dry/wet by turning the jog.
i want also the dry/wet come to 0 (and the effect goes off by the same time) when i don't touch the jog.
it's a bit the same that the vci-100 SE with the TSI of ean golden

for loading a track, i'll use shift+load



i think another possibility is just to use the shift button.
so, i could press the shift button + the jog to control what i want

The problem come when i try to remap the s4 by modifying the mapping (kontrol S4 user), I can add the on/off command of one effect, but i can't add the command of dry/wet (of the group of the 3 effect) by turning the jog...

it doesn't work...

Hmmm I get the feeling that you are trying to add some advanced mappings without understanding the basics. Start with babysteps to grasp the concept and gradually move your way up to the advanced stuff.

After that it is understanding the different states and the modifiers you have to add to controll that state. The fun in "programming" is solving the puzzle. Please be specific if you have a question regarding a specific parameter.

In your case I would try to see if you first can control the individual parameters with a single knob. E.g. try to take control of the dry wet by mapping it to a knob, once you know which commands it takes apply the same commands to the platter and gradually build it up. That way you know that each individual commands works and you only have to worry about the controlling the different states which can be a crime in itself.

So to sum it up break the problem down into small pieces first.

I think the issue is the restricted way you have to go about creating user mappings with S4. I'll have a look at what you're trying to do when I go home for lunch and see if I can help.

sorry if my english is not good but i know the basics... i have made my mapping on the vci 100.

the problem is one the S4 kontrol, the problem comes only from the dry/wet command... it seems to be impossible to command this parameter with the jog and i don't know why...

Are you getting any action of of the dry wet or is it not reacting not all?

Considering the embedded mapping and a user mapping in what you want to do:
if you don't create functions that will replicate the different interactions that can be made with the load button, and the platter, any system you'll try to put into place will fall apart as soon as you'll do something not previewed in your modifiers system.
You can do a temporary thing as probably done in the video but that would be only temporary and not something usable really.
Just list all things that can be applied to the load button and to the platter and create all interactions that also need to be created to reflect what's supposed to happen on the hardware/software.
Just for one platter there is at least two different states (normal & browse), shift, load, type of decks, some buttons, deck layer, etc, etc...Some of those having all interactions together. Now if by any chance you succeed you also have to do the same for the load button.
You can reduce the complexity by choosing not to ever do some movements or use things like for example, to never use sample decks as that lowers the number of modifiers and interactions needed (because you don't manage FX when you're on the layer of a sample deck and because some buttons on those type of decks do have a specific interaction with the platter also).

So I just wish you good luck, the more people are thinking about how that can be managed the more chance one may find a solution (personally, I think it is not possible within the current limitations of the controller manager).

If you don't find a solution, just create a midi mapping with the desired things you want to do, that's easy. When you're performing, switch the S4 to midi mode when you want and revert back to normal.

hi if any one does have a midi map as Yul discribes used to to control fx and would like to share the tsi that would be great. I would like the basic bones of an advanced fx midi so that you could edit and change it to work the way you want it to. i am working on one now but as im not very good its taking me ages.

yes, thx, i think it's the best way to go in midi mode for a special effect mode as on the vci-100 with the jogs. I will try to it and I'll share it.
