is there any effect plugins for virtal dj LE or mixxx? i know that you can download stuff for virtual dj but is there effect packs / mods for either software? do i sound like a retard asking this question?

You can't use external plugins or vst effects with VDJ LE, you will need to update to VDJ Pro... Once you register on the vdj forum you can then download plugins from there. Or do a google search for "free vst effects"
and what about mixxx? any hope there?
mixxx doesn't support plug in effects (yet). i guess u could route the audio out via a virtual audio driver like jackd and then apply affects to the whole mix - but don't think mixxx has any send/returns to apply effects to individual decks. i've only just gone back to looking at mixxx tho - dissecting it's code in my spare moments.
