VST and AU plugins will not load up in ableton. HELP

Ok Im trying to install some VSTs into ableton. It used to work fine. Now when i drop the VST icon that i want to install into HD/library/audio/plug-ins/vst then hit rescan in my ableton preferences it will not show up. i tried the same thing with audio units by dropping it into the components folder and it also wont work.

is the VST Plugin putting to the correct folder? Normally C://program files/steignberg/VST

no im pretty sure its in the exact folder im on a mac

have you been to preferences, file/folder, re-scan VST folder? Abes won't pick them up if it hasn't been told to scan that folder.
