beginner in mapping

hi
i use traktor scratch pro 2 with traktor kontrol X1
i downloaded a mapping which i can use when i'm in midi mode (schift+hotcue)
the mapping is very much what i was looking for but not complete.
now i could ask the builder to adjust it for me but i thought maybe i can make it myself if i could only find out how to.
i've been surfing a while now and couldnt find any explanation on how to adjust an existing mapping or how to build a complete new one.
i'm completely new to this midi-mapping thing.
anyone got some advice on where to start or which manual or something like that... ?
