I think you will find more people having issues with this set up then people using it. The s2 mk2 doesnt work with ipads running ios7 which is all new ones or any updated ipads. The s2 mk2 freezes and crashes now even on a laptop setup.

To tell you the truth, it's not that portable at all,
you still have to carry all peripherals in a medium sized bag where your laptop could've also easily fit into.

The Traktor App is very limited and the sync/grid function takes time to get used to.
Even the most basic operations need at least some focus on the app.
I tried playing familiar playlists I'm using for years, but I didn't get into a flow where I could rely on my natural
Traktor instinct keeping my eyes on the controller and forget about the program.
Every time I load a track and match tempos, I have to focus on the way Traktor DJ handles the tempo and the browser.
This could be improved.
I really don't like the browser handling to quickly load a next track: One turn to open the browser, another turn to scroll down.
This feature should be set like Traktor Pro.
Using the jogs for additional pitch bending doesn't seem possible while sync is on, so you have to toggle it off completely.
If you're in a situation you need a brief pitch bend, you need to toggle sync off > But if you press the sync button while it's (half) awaiting it syncs up the tempo and phase first :(
Many imported tracks needed also some additional grid editing inside the app because Traktor DJ aggressively syncs on the 1st down beat, regardless of any beatmarker or quantize settings you've set.
I'm hoping we'll see an improved updated soon.

It's disappointing to hear about the problems you have encountered - hopefully NI will address these in coming updates, they must be aware of them.
I came to the same conclusion as you about the portability - if I was to buy an S2 Mk2 I think I would go for a Macbook Air to go with it instead of an iPad. The Air is only a couple of hundred more than a large capacity iPad, and it's hardly any bigger/heavier, and of course I could then use Traktor Pro instead of Traktor DJ.
I think the wait goes on for the perfect controller to use with an iPad...
I've used the S2 MK2 with the ipad, I've had some freezing issues with my ipad running IOS 7. I've have to stop and kill the app then go back in. I've been fortunate to only have this issue during my practice session. I'm back to my MBA now.
Got an s4 and iPad air but yeah same problems, the app froze yesterday had to quit the app then restart it. Hope they fix this issue, if I knew about the issues with iPad would have just bought another laptop. If it gets fixed and they add remix decks it will be an awesome setup.
