Ableton Live 9 Promo Copy. How does it work?

I have someone willing to sell one of his promo copies of Ableton Live 9 Suite. Any idea how this copy works/the drawbacks?

Promo, edu and NFR versions of Ableton can't be resold, meaning you'll be stuck with it once you grab it and technically he shouldn't be selling it in the first place.

Ableton always has nice holiday discounts so I'd wait for that instead.

I appreciate it. The guy was really nice but it all seemed a bit sketchy. I'll wait for that discount.
