Splitting Sound between my setups (Audio quality drop) Suggestions?

Hi guys,

At the moment i have two CDJ2000NXS and a DJM900NXS connected as one setup and two Technic 1200s connected with a RANE 2015. My intention was to have these connected to my KRK Rokit 6s via XLR splitters (so i could chop and choose without having to plug and unplug XLRs all the time.

I'm using just normal two males to one female XLR for both speakers but having big audio drop mostly from the RANE when i have both setups in use or even switched on, which means i couldn't go back and forth between me and a friend.

You guys got any suggestions? The only suggestion i could think about is having one setup through XLR and one setup through RCA..

You are not "splitting" a signal, you are "combining" two signals into one speaker. Splitting a signal is relatively straight forward. Combining signals, not so much.

Given that you have two 4-channel mixers, just run the outputs of one mixer into the other, and then run one mixers outputs into the monitors.

Yeah that is a more accurate description of what i'm trying to do. I won't always have both setups on though as i did consider your suggestion of outputs from one mixer into another and back out again to the monitors.

If you don't want to chain mixers their are 2 other options.
1. Run a studio/live mixer e.g. http://www.allen-heath.com/ahproducts/zed-6/
2. A balanced audio input switch box e.g. http://www.kramerelectronics.com/pro...el.asp?pid=285
