for NYC promoters and dj's who throw events at nightclubs

Hi I would like to know everything that is associated for throwing legal parties at different nighclubs in New york especially in Manhattan Queens and brooklyn. Do I need an insurance?
I would like to hear from experience Dj's/or promoters.
Most clubs are run by promoters and they want your guest list or to work for them (bringing people).
So I want information about trowing an event.
Do you rent the club? or join establish promoters?
How much money are made as a associated/promoter or the Event head organizer?
in Clubs like Lavo, Cielo, Copacabana Output and big clubs like stage 48 or Space Ibiza NY. etc
