Well not diminished strictly speaking, but indirectly you're paying for stuff you don't need. Not every controller needs to be the full package like, well, basically every somewhat popular controller around already. I was hoping this would be different, but hey that's just me of course.
No you're not. There is NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO way Behringer is bundling these with full version software. They cost $100-$150.... you think there's room in that price for software licenses....?
They'll be bundled with either traktor LE or VDJ LE, which are free.
Most of us will never use it, but why not include it for the uber-newbies? NI or VDJ will give it to them for free/ maybe even pay them a small amount.
I agree^ They have to assume that people would be buying multiple units at a time, and would never offer a full license for each piece they sell.
Those costs are factored into the production cost of the products from the beginning, and they represent (in most cases) a tiny fraction of the total cost. Taking that cost out of the product would not represent a noticeable reduction in the price.Quote:

What we get for that is the assurance that every customer that buys a controller can have an immediate out of box experience with it WITHOUT having to invest another penny or do a bunch of internet searching to find out what application supports their new hardware.
For you personally, you may not need the software. That's great. But you are one person, and products like these sell tens of thousands a year. Manufacturers need to consider ALL of their customers - not just the more experienced ones.
That's right, the software will be an "LE" version. This allows the hardware manufacturer to provide this service to the customer while also offering the software manufacturer an opportunity to sell a full version of their software.Quote:

NONE of that software is free. It does cost money for a company to license ANY DJ software. No one gives it away - even the LE versions.Quote:

hey nem0nic, any chance of getting a demo copy of renoise bundled with it?
The demo has no restriction to saving or loading songs. Plus there are some great free tools available for download.
I like renoise but why for these controllers? They don't really seem overly suited to the program.Quote:
