P if they ever get round to making a platter controller?
It's not the sound coming out of Traktor that is bad, it's the EQ's that are bad. Choose the Xone:92 EQ in Traktor preferences.
Mix internally for an hour or so.
Now put your hands on a real Xone:92 and mix for another hour. You WILL notice the HUGE difference between digital software and analog EQ's and filters, and start to hate internal mixing.
This controller is NOTHING NEW. Internal mixing exists for YEARS now. MANY other controllers like this EXIST FOR YEARS (with better layouts and stuff but that is my personal opinion).
AND NOBODY USES IT. I mean, name ONE big name DJ/Producer/whatever that uses internal mixing Live. I don't know anyone to be honest.
Don't take me wrong, I'm not against NI in any way (I recently purchased two X1's which I love), but this new Z1 in my opinion is simply pointless. Begginer DJ's will want an all-in-one controller (Mixtracks, whatever).
When they begin to start feeling comfortable they will want a MIXER. Behringers, Reloops, low price Vestax's, etc. After that they will want good controllers. (X1's, K2's, Contours, Faderfox's, etcetc).
I speak for myself as that is/was what is/was happening with me ;)
the behringer CMD MM-1 is a more professional unit... 4 channels, usb hub... i'd take the hit on the soundcard and get that unless you want iPad.

they nailed it with that hub
I think NI developed this midi-mixer with an eye on the iPad users and diehard controllerist. It's a nice addition if you are using some X1's and F1's. Same size, simple, basic, portable... Pretty much the only thing that was missing for a complete live-remixing setup.
Also a perfect solution if you want to play with friends or at a local house party and don't want to take your $1500 mixer (heavy, expensive, not portable) with you.
It's definitely not designed with the intension of replacing the traditional club mixer.
When I got Traktor DJ for the iPad, I thought 'what I want is a hardware mixer that'll charge my iPad'. This is the solution. It'll also be useful for people that want some modular setup with their F1s etc. I'm sure that NI will release other solutions for other users too, they always do
Don't forget that that's YOUR opinion. Some people (myself included) feel that the EQs are better on Traktor than standalone mixers, especially with the Z-ISO curves. I was planning on buying an MM-1 specifically so I could switch to internal mixing full-time, but it looks like I'll be getting the Z1 instead now.
All we need now is for NI to add customizable EQ frequencies to Traktor and I'll be as happy as a swine in muck.
have you guys seen the price of the apple lighting to USB.... :scared: got to factor that in to the cost... = ipad fun but over priced
