build quality, and reloops are the worst offender at that. Only tables I'd consider would be the Stanton ST150, but I'd need to take a good look at them first. And I kinda like the vestax pdx 2000s but I'm really not sure, I heard stuff about their platters going crazy, spinnging backwards etc, I would have to try them out aswell
Ah fair enough, always good to hear other people's opinions! I really like the look of the reloop rp6000s, and a DJ mate of mine owns the rmp3 media players and those things are indestructible so I figured their tables would be pretty good.
I've only had a quick play on the ST150s but they appear to be absolute tanks. I know a couple of people who use them regularly and now won't use anything else- but they are both big into scratching so that might have a bearing.
The pdx2000s are great, the same DJ mate of mine brought his second hand back in 2007 and I brought them from him last year and they are still going strong without issues- I love the ultra pitch too. The one area where I really prefer my 1210s though is the pitch fader- that thing just can't be beat in my opinion! I generally use my PDXs for DVS and my 1210s for mixing normal vinyl.
Hmmm...looks very similar to what I currently have...with the exception of some lights above the fader, a round power button vs. square and a slightly darker cabinet.
Honestly it's all going to be about build quality, sound quality and if pio releases a DVS software to complement Rekord Box or not. The record player was basically perfected by Tech so we'll see how this rides out.
Now that you mention it, what I really like about the vestax PDX series, is that it looks unlike any other Turntable. As I found out today through some research, is that pretty much all Super OEM's are made by a company called Hanpin and pretty much rebadged by stanton, reloop etc.
The stanton 150 is no exception, it looks like it's made from the base model of the Hanpin DJ-5500, which also looks exacly like the Reloop rp6000 which I seriously, seriously hate with a passion. So that kinda puts me off from the stanton.
so does anyone know if the vestax is actually made by vestax or is it just a super OEM like the others?
The Vestax pre-dates the Super OEMs by some years (it was the main 1200 rival for several years) and as far as I know was made by Vestax themselves. I think the PDX2000 was released around 2000ish. Either way they certainly aren't super OEMS (I'm happy to be corrected if I've got any of that wrong!).
The PDX2000 & 2000mk2 (which I believe was the model that resolved the platter issues) was then replaced with the PDX3000 & PDX3000mk2 which is still available new today.
The 2000/2000mk2 are a fantastic second hand buy at the moment as here in the UK at least they seem to go for half the price of Technics.
I fakin' knew it! Thanks for informing me
Well I guess it's PDX2000>Stanton st150 for me then
Putting out a piece of DVS software is probably the stupidest thing Pioneer could do right now, as I see it.
They've got a good partnership set up with Serato, shoehorning Serato DJ down into something that'll make their monstrous controllers functional.
Trying to compete with both Traktor and Serato DJ for a DVS system, even if it's hardware based, is not only too much for even Pioneer, but would also send a confusing message about the "club standardness" of the DDJ-SZ.
But I suppose that from what Pioneer have been doing for the past year or so, I have no fucking clue if they even have a plan themselves.
