There is some sick value in that controller. First off the amount of control you get in such a small footprint is huge. Also the fact that it has a nice deck overlay included as well. Second and I think this is a huge value, you get a 4 GB loop/sample library provided. Maschine/Mikro has a 6 GB library and it's at least $400 for the Mikro. I'm really stoked to see where NI goes with Traktor.

I got bored after about 30 seconds. I think the same would happen after spending 30 seconds with the new sample decks!!
Definitely NOT for me this update. Im open to being creative but 99% of the current sample deck usage I've heard so far is utter dog shit. This update will just increase the number of people misusing the sample decks by at least a factor of 10! i can't wait!!
If by $400 you mean $350 standard. You're also getting a controller with velocity sensitive pads. AND YOU'RE GETTING THE MASCHINE SOFTWARE. Maschine is not quite a full-fledged DAW, but let's not pretend that the bulk you're paying for the package is going toward samples. TPro 2 also came with samples, remember, and I wouldn't be surprised to see those in this "4gb package" included with the F1. The F1 would be an amazing production controller to boot with velocity sensitivity, but without that it just makes it an overpriced X1 in a different form factor with samples included. Fair enough, I'm still considering getting one for my DVS setup, but I'm probably going to wait to buy one used since I won't have to pay the premium for the license that way. If the S4 and the S2 are any indication, there will be plenty available used even a few weeks after release as people realize the controller is not quite what they hoped it would be.
Furthermore, included samples just means that any DJ with an F1 is going to have the same library you do; considering samples are intended to add your own unique creative flair to your sets, this fact makes them a little bit less enticing.
Yep. NI is really good at hyping and marketing features most people don't need that will probably hinder them more than anything, and basically if you want to use the shiny new remix decks you need an F1, and they will make a lot of money which I have no problem with. I can't wait to see the F1 routines people start posting on youtube for some hilarity though.
I bought an SL2 earlier (bargain on eBay because they mis-spelt the description) as I wanted to get to grips with SSL and The Bridge, All this info got released about an hour after I bought it and I thought I should have waited but the more I read the more I'm becoming less bothered by it and more looking forward to my original plan
