I think that 4A firmware and mapping does unit switching outta box. No worries about that ;)

How to: You'll need set one modifier and set type to hold and pick any value. Basically it's how shift button works. You press button and modifier value jumps to whatever value you've set before (1-7) you release button, boom - value jumps back to zero. That gives you two modifier states you can combine with any control. Now example, your fx buttons are called 'FX Unit On' and you can find them under Mixer menu in controller manager. Add this command, assign for deck A and set modifier condition of M=0 (the value when Shift aint press). Now duplicate this command, map to same button (as deck A) and assign for other deck - in this case deck C and set modifier condition M=1 (shift being press). This is the most basic stuff you can achieve using modifiers in Traktor, hope that helps.

I think you are on the right track there mate. Those 2 together look like they could control pretty much anything you want and if in the future the Remix Decks get opened up (i wouldnt hold my breath though) you have the controls available to take advantage of them.

I actually think that your idea of replacing the FX knobs on the 4a with pan and gain controls is pretty logical and wouldnt feel out of place when using the unit. Simple but great in my opinion. And to think you get all of that control for less than $400 is insane.

In the Deckadance and Traktor mappings those buttons are of course loop size modifiers. That's the purpose of that set of controls. But it's trivial to re-map them.

Not sure that's going to work out quite how you're expecting. Maybe I'm misunderstanding your question. The Studio 4a controls 4 decks, and the 1 & 2 buttons above the faders are there to indicate effects assignment. With Decks A and B active, you certainly could map buttons 1 & 2 on the Deck B fader to represent FX 3 &4 for Deck A, but then what would tell you what FX are assigned to Deck B.

Correct. Deck switching on the 4a is accomplished via firmware and not based on modifiers, because most DJ software doesn't have modifiers.

-Sweet that's what I figured. I wouldn't remap the loop size buttons but actually the ones right above it to beat jumps.

-Ahhhh I see what your saying, Deck A and Deck B can be selected/active at the same time....duhhhh I'm retarded. I was more thinking like if you had ONLY deck A selected you could have it display (4) Deck A fx assignments and then the same when ONLY Deck B is selected. That way you could turn on and off 4 fx units for 2 decks all from the controller. I know it might seem retarded because it literally takes two seconds with the mouse to turn fx units on and off but I'm just wondering of its possible. Does any controller out there have this kinda fx functionality? I think the S4 only has two just like 4A. Could be a cool route to go for people who like to use a ton of effects. I have a mf3d in deckgrat mapping so it turns fx units on and off when u switch banks (decks) so I thought it would be cool to turn em on and off with the 4A when i need em on/off.

Hey buddy sorry i forgot to reply back to your post and thank you for your help. Happy belated thank you bro! I kinda get what your talking about, i've been reading it over and over trying to wrap my head around it but I think I just don't know enough about mapping with modifiers and conditions yet. But from what your saying I can do this? You are a fucking genius mate!

Any websites or books you can point me too to learn more about complex mappings? I've been looking up things in the Traktor Manual, I also need to get that Traktor Bible book, but is there anything else you can think of so i can be speaking the same language as you guys one day?
