Hi mcneeezy, some dj's that I know get genres mixed up, they think house is techno and so on. It is some what confusing even mp3 site(s) get there genres mixed up. It all falls into the catigory of electronic music, then you make your distictions from there by their bpms. Here is a little break down, hope this helps.
60–90 bpm — hip hop and dub
90–120 bpm — faster hip hop and big beats/trip hop
120–135 bpm — house
135–155 bpm — techno
155–180 bpm — drum and bass / jungle
180 + bpm — hardcore gabber and beyond
haha thanks for the definitions but that's not really what i meant. i mean i don't really attempt to cater to any specific genre. I likes what i likes and i don't really care what it's called. There is stuff from all genres i really dig and stuff in all genres that really puts me off.

I just switched over to computer based DJing about 6 months ago from vinyl. It's a learning curve, and dependability for me is a big thing. Been DJing for 9 years, and producing for just about as long.
Using Traktor pro to DJ; and Logic 8, Ableton live 7, and some Reason 4 to produce. Mainly do Trance style stuff, drum and bass, and whatever stuff I feel like, sort of EDM as in throwing breaks and some other stuff into a "trance" track.
The possibilities seem endless as long as you can get all your stuff to work together without it killing each other, figuratively.

Well, that's a compicated story, LOL. :p
I have played at a few venues, like Menjos, Backstreet, The Works, Club 9, Diamond Jims Saloon and Oslo...but I am not currently affiliated with any clubs.
I am rapidly becomng known as the Fetsih DJ in Detroit. I may have a 4 night/month gig in 2010. Just awaiting confirmation of dates. It's a brand new private dungeon/play space.
So until I find a club that loves my style of electro house (I call it Dirty Disco) I am not playing anywhere. Just doing internet shows.
