No idea. I don't have any Chroma Caps to test them with. But the CMD controllers use standard "D type" stems, so I would assume they would probably work.Quote:

I only ask because I like having visually different knobs for different functions...and as far as D-type stems...the problem is usually orientation. The DJTT ChromaCaps are oriented with the Flat side of the D facing down when the indicator is facing up...my Denon gear (X1700 mixer and MC3000 controller) also have D-type stems...the caps fit but face wrong since the flat part of the D faces left when the indicator is pointing up...hugely annoying. I found an old Yamaha mixer with the same orientation and swapped out some knobs in my MC3000 just so I could have something other than black for all my knobs ;-)
Thanks for all the info though...MM-1 and maybe a PL-1 are definitely in the works for me...
Well, this should be less of a problem on the CMD controllers since most of the knobs are actually encoders and have no specific orientation.Quote:

The D-type cavities in knobs is not much of an issue anyway. Take a drill the same size as the stem you're gonna attach the cap to and drill out the flat section of the "D". Then, Just cut a piece of paper to sit INSIDE the cap around teh now "O" type cavity, and you'll get a nice interference fit when you push it onto the stem.
This is how I modded my UC-33e and UC-16 with cheap (ebay!!!) knobs...

I also thinked the DJTT Chroma Caps would be great, but as far as i can tell from the new pics the knobs have led ilumination... Is this true @nem0nic? From the pics and since the cmd line have a standard design the Studio 4a not having the rotatory led strips i assume the white "dot" of the knob is iluminated with a led... If so i wish they were all with the stripe leds, more eficient in dark cenarios...
None of the knob or fader caps are illuminated.
So how do those LED rings on the encoders work? Are the encoders actually pots like on the MPD24 or is it some midi feedback thing? :)
Oh, is there going to be some editor software for these or will we be able to do it from the hardware itself? Editor programs can be annoying as a linux user.
So in dark cenario's we aren't able to see where the eq. and effects knobs are? Have to watch the screen all the time?
I think if the proposal to the Studio 4A was a all-in-one solution for the users not to look at the screen all the time the position indicators are very needed.
I just wish you guys could fit a system similar to DVS, LC ans DC controllers (led stripe). I think any kind of iluminated indicator is most needed since not even the surface of the Studio 4A on the eq. knobs have painted or printed stripes like any other controller or mixer in the market. A simple knob without any common aproach on the design it's not a must...all the rotatory knobs should have a led indicator or at least a drawing on the surface.
Wait, what mixers and controllers actually have illuminated knobs? A&H Xone DB4, Denon DNX1700, Akai APC40, Behringer BCR2000... Anything else? NI's controllers and Pioneer mixers certainly don't. If you're worried stick an LED torch in your gig bag. (no really, they are super handy, get one)
I'm afraid i was misunderstood...i wasn't talking about iluminated knobs in other gear but at least printed stipes so it's easy for you to know what you are doing a little dot is not suficient....
Let's see the Studio 4A vs the CMD DVS-1 VS Nox Mixer Line...

I think all the CMD line should have the same kind of iluminated knobs stipes, if now in the budget for all line products a more convencional aproach like the Nox Mixer line would be much more apreciated. Another point is concerning the eq. kill buttons. They should be located near the volume faders and the transport seccion like the nox mixer's. I think the eq. area it's a it busy for user's.
Just my 2 cents!
