Most prob like Serato as a rewire master type of thing and the timecode sending out a midibeat clock type of thing controlling master tempo with the audio from live coming into a deck or channel in serato type of thing.
me thinks ;)

As a owner of ableton 8 I just can't wait... I want to buy a sl3 soon as possible
my bet is on new hardware, probably new Rane hardware to make this possible...
Has to be software..most likely a Serato plug-in for TT control inside of Live- like said here before.
They both make only software. Rane has nothing to do with Serato other than Serato made SSL for them. Serato is a software developer.
There was an announcement a while back that said the new product would be compatible with all existing Serato Hardware. I asked Serato if buying the SL3 would allow me to use the new product when it was released.
They said yes...
I LOVE Ableton's Drum Rack tool included from 7.0 and up! Works awesome if you have a 16 pad controller! And the visual midi mapping makes it so easy to make this control that and that trigger this!
speculation on the serato forums is that Itch (or SSL? or both) will get abelton's beatgrid/warping engine. i've been thinking about switching to traktor from itch lately, but if that happens (AND ITCH GETS 4 DECK SUPPORT) i'll be staying.
They have already shown Itch running 4 decks when they demoed the Xone DX. Personally I hope that Ableton would be routed to Serato and that you could use Ableton efx, loops etc in Serato.
