Ferruy coursten played not so long back in Bali in a small club, seriously i didnt go cause i didnt know who the fuck he was.
Boy geoprge played the other wekk, missed that one too... is there any correlation here...shrug..
well consider the Jerome Isma-ae also played not so long ago also.. I made sure i was sitting to the side watching his set...
then again Ian Brown just played the hard rock 2 last week, I only realized the day after when a mate was telling me... he reckons the show was great... but he is English so i dont know if any bias played role.
i just woke up...didnt have time to read the whole thing...sasha, digweed, lawler...wha?...im confused...
The DJ Mag list is a voting poll. Anybody in the world can vote online. The poll typically reflects what is popular around the world. Trance is still hugely popular at all of the large european festivals, hence the top 10 (minus deadmau5) is all trance. It is not based on skill. It's a popularity poll. Still find it humorous that deadmau5 made the list considering he's not a 'dj', even according to him.
Once you realize how it's compiled, you too, should not get too worked up over the List. :)
So I think its been covered as to why the top 100 is the way it is.
However...like them or not, many of these "top DJs" have been in it since the humble beginnings of EDM and have worked their asses off to get to the top. Whether or not they can still hold their own in artistic creativity or "talent" is an other story.
Many of them were responsible for the shaping and redefining of many current genres and subgenres with their productions and performances (i.e. Ferry Corsten, Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, etc). The Dutch definetely do seem to have something in their blood that makes them crank out the type of "Trance" that strikes a nerve with alot of people around the world.
Also factor in the aspect of $$$. EDM is by no means an "underground phenomenon" anymore and "Trance" is a genre that fills venues with 10's of thousands of people...and pads the pockets of many. Its arguably the "top producer" in the way of sales and revenue so its pretty common to have the ones who not only fill stadiums but actually make the "hits" that sell.
All that said may I add: "its best in Europe bro.....its best..."

Well, Gareth Emery is the bomb, I agree but only production wise.
I wouldn't say David Guetta is trance ..?
And yes, the voting system is strange and doesn't say 'best dj' but maybe most popular, yes. Still doesn't explain why there are so many popular dutch djs.
Ferry Corsten is pretty well-known here in holland people but Im not sure about worldwide. I remember him from 'the race' but thats a REALLY bad song! I think deadmau5 is less well known to many people here, he's more of a USA guy I think
Guetta was house, now he's known for his pop offerings with the Black Eyed Peas and Akon.
Why are there so many top dutch djs? the answer is simple, because there are a lot of people listening to what they play.
