Oh and out of interest I heard of issues upgrading firmware if you didn't have a PC with serial port (and really who has one of those these days?)
Does this still exist with the 1.4 upgrade? or does the USB method work now?
The advise is to still use a serial cable but i have done 2 FW updates (1.3 & 1.4) both with USB on a crappy PC and both went perfectly well first time, no issues.
I used a cheap USB to Serial cable from Maplins (UK not USA)
I think the majority of the people that upgrade use a USB to serial cable simply because most don't have a serial port anymore.
I even went into my cellar to find a PC that has a serial port. I found one but it was so knackered id rather trust the USB route.
Fair enough, just blagged a USB to serial from a mate.
Is it just a case of following the upgrade video, and importing the new .tsi? There were lots of other posts relating to changing aspects of the file to get the new HD functionality to work correctly.
Considering swapping out the fader whilst I've got the box open as well...
Ignore all the posts until/if you hit a problem.
Follow the Upgrade Video slowly and carefully, that is all.
I dont use the DJTT tsi but i havent needed to alter anything on my own tsi due to the new FW.
It really is that simple (well was for me anyways)
Really Karlos? I'm worried, you should have had to change at least the pitch fader commands and scratch sensitivity to get a workable HD file after your flash. Confused...
Anyhow, if it's any help to anyone, I've had no problems doing multiple flashes with various USB to Serial cables, as long as the "delay compensation" box is checked within the FDTAdvancedSetup.exe application.
Also no problems (as long as I'm using that setting) doing it through Boot Camp on a mac.
Well now im thinking it hasnt worked... Bum.
The software said it completed fine. To be honest i only used it tonite and i wasnt doing any scratching but i can pitch up in increments of 1.something and the scratching seems a lot tighter.
Got time to have a deeper dig tomorrow.
What changes did you need to make Zac..?
I don't use the DJTT file either, so the changes I made (had to make) were:
1) Added commands for "scratch" on channel 2 (still CC16 left and CC17 right), and deleted the scratch commands on channel 1.
2) Set the sensitivity of those commands to about 1/4 of what they used to be.
3) Added commands for "tempo" on channel 2, note type "pitch bend", and adjusted sensitivity until I got a good ratio of movement to increment.
4) I had pitch bending on the outside of my jogs, and those notes have been moved to channel 2, so I did that (same note names).
5) I deleted the dual filter commands on those knobs and changed them to the new single note (CC23 left, CC27 right, both on channel 1).
6) And finally, messed about with the left sync button commands in my file until it was straightened out with the new toggling behavior.
* An easy way to tell if your flash went through ok is to delete your old scratch commands, add scratch commands to CC16 channel 2, and if it's set to the same sensitivity as your old commands, it should be WAY too sensitive at first. Or get into disco mode ;) Let me know how it goes man!
