Long term effects will be nil, the extra circumference won't make a difference to the leverage, that changes scratch by scratch anyway, whether you are moving the platter fast, slow, gently or firm... so no changes there in terms of stress on the unit, they are engineered to deal with different DJ styles and techniques, not to be operated with exactly the same force every time from every DJ, so this isn't a measurable factor or an issue.

The weight is almost identical to the 7" perspex platter, the modification 8" or 9" platter weighs less than the 7" record with adapter option you can use on the system as standard, so the engineering tolerances are already able to take this mod.

What material(s) are used in the making the platter? If the platter is larger than the original, yet "weighs less", the material used must be a lighter material or is it the same as the original platter only machined thinner?

I'm saying in weighs less than when you use the 45 7" record as your platter. Not the original perspex one :-)

would love to see some pictures of just the platter... might be a useful purchase for people making their own custom diy controllers... like me :)

Ya i could see more of a market in it being used for custom controllers than on these Denons. I dont know many people who own one and have interest in modifying it.

It's such a simple idea that anyone with these units will just think "why not!" it's so simple cheap and quick and has an obvious enhancement that even if your happy with the device you'll see clearly why this makes them even better :-)

I am not sure I know anyone willing to buy anything from a facebook page.. If you want to sell these things with any chance of success, you need a real website.... You can easily leverage facebook for promotional reasons, but you need a real website for anyone to take you seriously.. This isn't me 'hating' on you, it's the truth... social media should be used to promote your product to the masses, but not as your products only source of information. I for one do not have a facebook account, nor will I ever, ever sign up for one...

Well as someone who has delivered digital marketing solutions for over 15 years and owns my own digital agency, I'm probably in a reasonable position to judge the usefulness and potential role of Facebook for small niche businesses like this one as their sole public face. But thanks for the comments. I'd suggest you keep an eye on Facebook. More businesses like this will be using it as a platform and in some cases their only platform. I'm using Paypal as my method of payment and that's quite popular too!

LOL sorry for the sarcasm, just your issue with Facebook not being a serious platform for my little business has made me chuckle.
