Yup, done that more times than I want to admit.
Or recording in an external software and I forgot to hit record. yay
You go to UCSB?!? So do I.. Was this to play downtown at EOS?
You know there's a level meter on the recording, right?
I don't go there, I'm at a boarding school nearby. I'm not sure where I was going to play, i just got approached by a friend who has a connection who books for UCSB. And yes, I realize that it has a meter, I just didn't pay attention to it I guess. Not 100% sure how I didn't notice, but hey, it works like that.
this thread's a little old, but...just did the exact same thing and i'm so frustrated. four hour live mix, the most perfect i've done live...and i forgot to check prefs and set it to internal. so i recorded four hours of silence.:mad::mad:
no way in hell i can make that mix again the way i made it...argh. four hours. i killed the transitions, the effects, the levels, and the song choice, and the crowd stayed hyped all the way until we got shut down.
I know the feeling oh too well. We all have those days.
I made the most perfect invisible ham sandwich the other day, only when I came to eat it I couldn't find it.
this is one reason I don't use traktor for recording anymore. I route the soundcard output through other software (in my case SoundStudio, but Ableton or Audacity probably work just fine too). Doesn't stop me from screwing things up or forgetting to start recording of course but there's a little more assurance that I'll pay attention. And as a bonus the sound quality is much better.
