This kinda sucks. A couple people at worked asked me my thoughts on this today...

Games like guitar hero don't translate into you playing an analogue instrument. Ever.

This game will make people think they can dj because of where dj'ing is right now with midi controllers.

If you look at what people who use a midi controller are doing, they are essentially playing a video game, right? That perception can exist.

This is a joke...the market's going to get flooded by a bunch of douchebags...as if there weren't enough out there already.

LOL....Mister Moley Mole...oh man...I don't scare. It cheapens our profession.

Any bar or club owner is going to hire someone based on a draw of people they bring. Why? Because those people buy drinks.

So it's conceivable that any Tom, Dick, or Harry who has this game could easily believe they know how to spin live.

I might play Rock Band and Guitar Hero on Expert difficulty, but I'm not about to call a place and tell them I can play some songs for them live, right? It just doesn't translate that way...

I know .. thats my point ... nothing to worry about its all just for fun, and if off the back of it people want to try and spin some toonz then so be it .. if there crap there crap init so this game coming out isnt a big deal.

On the other hand you may find that some people off the back of it think oif giving djing a go and be uber good at it.

I guess my point is it shouldn't bother current djs in anyway whatsoever, which it seemed to you a little with eth comments about the market getting flooded with "douchebags" (when i hear that word i instantly think kelly osbourne). Who cares if the market is flooded with them at the end of teh day like you said you have to be good to get booked.

Hope i'm making sense ... and just incase this translates into a rant i'm not at all ... I promise x x x :)

DJs have been wining about douche bags flooding the scene even when everyone was still playing with vinyl. I love the coulture with all my heart, but I'll be the first to admit that the DJ scene has been pretty ripe with douchebags for a long time- a videogame release isn't going to effect it that much.

I remember in the late 90s (the height of mass rave popularity) when i was in highschool so many spoiled brats we're getting turntables/mixer setups from their parents as gifts so that almost every house party I'd go to we'd be forced to hear terrible DJs trainwrecking hard house/trance all night..... :P

Sure there might be a couple more d.bags runnin around doing their best Tiesto impressions after this game is released, but by the same token it might also be what inspires some young punk to be the next great DJ that influences the scene positively.
