Question for Ean (or any DJTT Employee) re: VCI-100se's and the Future...

Remeber though, NI is giant corporation compaired to DJTT's. This is a three to four guy opperation, and they are doing us a favor by constantly working on these devices to make them better for us. So, I completely understand if what I paid for is what I get. I purchased a VCI-100SE Arcade Mod this year. I just assumed I would have to buy the firmware kit in the future to upgrade to 1.4, and also figured I would be buying new overlays down the line.

I agree with you, but at least give the preference for those who are alredy clients of DJTT (FW or VCI100SE buyers)... I would like it if I was a client alredy.

From what i gather from this thread, am i right in thinking that the firmware kit is a completely separate entity to the firmware version?

e.g. if i got a kit and updated my VCI-100 to v. 1.3, then when v. 1.4 is released i will only need to download the new software?

For some reason my head put the 2 together and I was reluctant to buy the kit when I keep hearing about 1.4 on the way.. :rolleyes:

Thats the way i read it .. once you have a fw kit its there for any future updates. Its just a way of getting into the VCI's Brain to give it new input

Well the official word it that we will continue to support the VCI-100 and continue to develop mappings for the device into the future - there are no plans to ceise creating and tweaking mappings anytime in the forseeable future.

yes .. the firmwire upgrade kit just enables you to change the firmware on the unit. what version of the firmware you install is a separate thing. so you need a firmware upgrade kit to make changes to your firmware and you need to download the firmware you want to install (once its available in the case of the 1.4 version).
