Switching to Iphone after years of Blackberry

I loved the BB keyboards too but was very interested in the full on touch of the 9850/9860. It was definitely a great phone "while it lasted". I did not miss having a real keyboard at all.

Now that I'm on iPhone, however, I 100% regret not coming to apple sooner. The applications are just mind blowingly useful. I don't play games or look into stupid pointless apps out there. The apps on Blackberry were complete FAIL and there just weren't that many USEFUL apps to even choose from. Instead, it seems like the BB app store is full of useless games, etc.

From my bank account app to ebay mobile to pandora, I'm already blown away by what the iPhone is capable of and how it actually makes life easier, and how stable it is. Blackberry I felt was more of a PHONE and as soon as you try using heavy apps or uploads a couple GB's of photos/music, the phone became unstable. I put in my old 32gb microSD which was probably half full and the brand new phone started glitching.

There's a reason why Apple is doing so well in the mobile market. If blackberry's newest line of phones (bold 99XX included!!) can't even be trusted, how much longer does RIM expect their customers to stay faithful?

I've been a long time BB user and have always avoided switching to Apple. The time finally came though and I don't think I'll ever look back, even if RIM comes out with QNX etc. The apps are a plus on the iPhone but the real value comes in its STABILITY.

Everyone forgets that android phones are plagued with viruses. Yeah its cool to have all those apps, but at the expense of your phone running correctly? RIM isnt doing as bad as some of you think, its the north american market thats taking the hit. The company has been winning some major awards for the phones and technology it has developed. And before you point out how some models are having issues, remember that technology advanced very quickly now, and with that, some of the reliablity is lost. the more features you have, the more needs to be crammed into a device. Fortunately for the BlackBerry, you have choices in the models. One iphone releases at a time. RIM launched 7 devices in more than a few countries on the same day. The blackBerry is the most secure smartphone, several countries have signed agreements to only use blackberries in their governments. This includes the United States and Russia. The choice then becomes a virus ridden andriod phone, a beautifully marketed toy, and a secure solid phone. In an age where everyone is afraid of big brother watchin, it surprises me that people wouldnt pick security over angrybirds.

Secure or not, their phones are garbage and falling way behind in the regards to recent technology. My last Bold 9650 was a joke. It worked great for the first 2 months then nothing but problems. Two of my friends did the exact same thing....it was laughable. They were everything but "solid."

I was close to getting the 9930 with Sprint. I was eligible for an upgrade. Both the 9930 and 4S were $200 upgrades. What would you choose?

Also, I've never heard of anyone having problems w/ a "virus plagued" Android phone, mostly the complaints deal with battery issues.

I wish RIM would step it up, but I don't see it happening.

Seems like a smart move. I've always been an iPhone boy since I moved on to smartphones. But the people I know who have made the opposite move (iPhone to Blackberry) absolutely hate it.

Sadly, this does mean you HAVE to have iTunes on your computer. Which I personally hate - other than that, iPhone is all good. :)

iOS5 is designed to be used without a computer or iTunes. You will need an itunes account, but you don't have to connect it to a computer at all.

Mine doesn't. Appointment at the Apple Genius Bar tomorrow to find out why my 3GS will not pick up wifi.

F*cking O2 (my carrier) wont replace it as its hardware and is not covered under insurance. The woman at O2 basically told me to drop it and get it replaced on the insurance.

I was less than happy.

There's some quirks though. I think you have to update podcast manually and smart playlists is a feature of iTunes so that won't work without it.
