Definitely Check out Rusko if you are feeling Dubstep.
Not to hijack the thread, but here is a mix a dubstep mix I did for a podcast the other week. Done with traktor, a faderfox dj2, and an akai mpd24.

Check out as well
Rottun Prod. and Exsicion
he started his label here in Kelowna and Brought us our dubstep scene. Now its exploding in Western Canada as well.
midian you gotta take back that 'cheesy' shit, they are just producers of some of the most popular hits in dubstep, otherwise Rusko would def be in that list lol.
Cliche would a better choice of word, or even essential considering that this thread is for someone new to dubstep
Its a shame that dubstep is getting to the stage where there are mainstream tunes and underground tunes.
Check out High Rankin, Ed Solo, N-Type, S.I.N, Matty G, BabySham as well.
Thanks all who put their suggestions out there i'll def check em out
Excision is fk'n sic. Hes just signed a couple of NZ Artists, Cheshire & Jackal, Sick Cycle, both of who are playing a gig I'm holding soon ;D Would be mad keen to get him over to NZ.
Rusko's older stuff is mean, but some of his newer stuff is nearly not dubstep anymore more bassline house or something.
Yeah he is F'n Sic, certainly does not shy on laying out the bass in his sets. Its funny though is to talk to him he is quite reserved and shy.
It saddens me though is I will be moving away from our Hometown of Kelowna BC so I will not get to enjoy his Elevation nights for sometime.
I bet he would love to get over to NZ sometime for a show. As would anyone.
Definitely not bassline . I'd say things on the east coast of the US is moving more towards bass influenced music be it Dubstep 4x4 Bassline or what ever you wanna call it . I'll be sure link some of you guys up with some promo links for Starkey's Street Bass Anthems #4 I've heard most of the tracks that are gonna be on it and it's fuckin sick !
I'm having a hard time jumping on the dubstep bandwagon. I mean it's not bad. it's actually really cool.. but, i still feel like every song is made from the same VST. They all have that same ultra dirty metal electro sound - which is really tight, but it gets old for a whole set. (here comes the "u could say that about every genre" rebuttals). Throw it in at the 3/4 mark of a set for 2 tracks, then get out for the finale; but not a whole set. It's basically the same argument i got flamed for on the dnb is dead thread.
and im out.
