As far as I'm aware, there aren't many jurisdictions in the US that allow semi-automatic shotguns to hold more than 2 rounds. And even with modification, most of the ones I've used/seen will only fit 4 without seriously impacting performance.

There are exceptions to both, of course, but the only shotguns I'm aware of that hold more require a Class 3 Weapon Tax Stamp and end up with a total cost of around $10,000.

I could be missing something, though…I haven't exactly tried to shop for the zombie apocalypse just yet.

agreed....and 5 shots....with a shotgun....not much would be left....IMHO.

With respect, that's not entirely accurate... There are plenty of shotguns on the market here that hold more than two rounds, perform just fine, and are perfectly legal for joe schmoe to buy provided he meets the standard requirements (not a felon, not a wife beater, etc.), no stamp required.

Also, I didn't see any indication in the article that the shotgun was a semi-automatic, not that it makes much of a difference.
