Let me amend what I said, I think big name djs will probably be able to sell their sets this way if they want to, where I think it will fail is that this isn't going to help unknown DJs get exposure. Which may not be their goal anyway, though making it so anyone can upload and sell a mix sort of sends that message.
Hm, I think this is actually a really cool idea =), checking out the page and heck, it's a great platform for solid exclusive DJ mixes. Add to that the ability to upload your own mix? I like it ^^
Why the fuck would I buy someone elses mix when I can get most of the big name DJs that I follow for free? The whole thing doesn't make any sense to me as there is no market, and has never been a market to sell DJ mixes since people used to buy CDs.
Won't get past beta IMO.
i see the beatport mixes working because a lot of the pro's will host their mixes there and will filter a lot of junk that is posted on mixcloud and soundcloud. Dont get me wrong a lot of good stuff is on SC & MC but its like going crate digging to find quality stuff. I would want to see how SC & MC are going to respond to this move.
That may be true but I still don't think many people will be parting with their hard earned for a mix
