Is it wrong to DJ your own party?

As a former promoter, I'd vote against filling the lineup with a whole bunch of your friends if its a money making venture, but in general DJing your own party is fine, as long as you have someone you trust to run things while you're on the decks.

I know the feeling. Last night this couple of female dancers were pretty close to my DJ rig and it was not fun watching them swirl towards the rig over and over....

That's an answer to a different question.

Of course it's ok. DJ's put their own parties on, whether you mean actual night at a club, a rave in a field/warehouse or a houseparty. Most DJ's have put their own nights on at some point.

This. Also, just make sure you have someone you can FULLY trust to take care of stuff while you're busy spinning.

Nothing wrong at all. Make sure you have DJ friends there like everyone else said. That way, when you want to drink more, or talk to people, pass the decks off and have fun. The best part about DJing your own party is when you want on the decks, you can get on the decks.

Sort of shocked at these answers. I'd say it's a no no if you're doing anything other than opening the night up. In the north east, unless your are an extremely established name (think Danny Tenaglia), that type of thing is frowned upon VERY heavily by everyone in the business. Best way I can put it is that the best promoters never do this with a few exceptions.
