With that said, there ARE some cheaper alternatives out there, and this doesn't do anything significantly differently to them. The tricky thing is finding one which splits a stereo input into two joint stereo outputs; one from the left channel and one from the right channel; rather than just splitting a stereo signal into two MONO channels, or duplicating both stereo channels.
Tbh, if there's actually any interest in the NI cable, I could probably come up with a funky-looking alternative :)
