I was one of the first guys in Cape Town to get a pair of CDJ100S.
I came from vinyl before that, so was not a heavy learning curve at all.
I actually learned on cdj100s as well but http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pi...0S_top_med.jpg
Damn....I remember the excitement!
They were STATE of the ART at the time.
:)
I know there were versions before the 100S, but not as sexy and reliable.

and super happy with the choice i was, solid little things.
My experience is similar to deevey's. I first used CD's on a Denon DN-2000F in 1997 and I got a (single) CDJ-500 to use at home not long after that. I got my sc3900's in 2012/13 but hadn't actually bought any CDJ's for my home rig since that CDJ-500. I've used CDJ-1000's and 850's on occasion when gigging but to be honest I usually clear existing kit out of the way and set my own stuff up.
Interesting hearing all your starters! Some very old gear shows how much change there as been.
