Wait...is the bug with 1.1.1 + VCI-100se (1.3 firmware) only?
If so, does this happen with 1.2?
Which 'official' .tsi does this happen with? All of them? Or just 1.6?

I have had the same bug (Traktor crashing when going thru effects). I use TPro 1.1.1, vci-100se fw.1.3, Eans 1.4 tsi (i think) modified and a macbook. So no - it dosent only happen to windows machines.
What sort of crash? Cos mine didn't crash, it just hung. No crashlogs to be found.
Does disabling the midi out fix it?
Ohh sorry - by crash I mean Freeze. I actually think that the music kept playing, but Traktor didnt respond. Neither using the vci or the mouse.
Different issue by the looks of it. This problem makes the audio hang and makes a horrible racket.
Exactly. Its the accoustic feedback: I get crazy earaches when this happens in my room. Dont wanna know what I would feel like if this happens in the club. :(
I use TPro 1.0.2 , VCI firmware 1.2 and Windows XP so its not limited to the 1.1.1 version
At what point does your setup hang Danny? Is it replicable?
I havent really figured out the exact point of time. I get a short freeze when i switch from chained to advanced mode. Sounds like a 1/32 loop or something similar. Probably exact same problem that you experience
I experienced already permanent freezes but next time it happens I will try to remember exactly what I did.
Nevertheless, I will try to turn off the midi out and see if the problem still exists
Sounds slightly different, let us know if it works though.
I was having the exact same problem on TPro 1.02 on a Macbook Pro, VCI-100 fw 1.3 and TSI 1.6. What soundcard do you use? I'm on an Echo Audiofire 2. Sometimes the GUI comes back, other times I need to reload TPro (or reboot) - this happened on a gig in France! So now I'm back at 3.4 for club jobs :(
Make sure you guys report this to N.I. support so they can take care of it in a future update.
Since I didn't think it was worth starting a new thread over (but I'm pretty sure it's a TPro related problem) I thought I'd ask here...
Since upgrading to Traktor Pro, the LED lights on my VCM-100 don't toggle between orange and blue anymore. They're all stuck on orange when they used to be perfectly responsive. Everything else is working properly, but I'm just not seeing the colour change (which I miss and was useful). Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks for the reply, but no luck... I searched on the NI forums and it seems that a couple people with the VCM have had this problem as well, but the thread I pulled up dropped off a couple months ago with no resolution.
I had that TPro 1.1.1 crash on me this weekend 3-Songs in to the party!!! F**K!!
Had to bail on it the rest of the night untill I could figure out what happenend.
My crash did the horible 1/32 Loop Sound Blaring through the speakers, scared the crap out of everyone! Anyways, I was using the VCI-100 SE Arcade fw1.3/tsi 1.4 with Audio 8 DJ. My computer/mouse still worked, I could even click on buttons in traktor, but they wouldn't function, also my VCI was on but wasn't able to comunicate with traktor during the crash. After reading the USB Cable post today, I am definately going to upgrade those, but from what happened, it seems like the cause was TP1.1.1.
FYI: My Laptop is a HP, 2.4Ghz AMD Turion, 2Gig Ram, Win XP Pro
My problem has always been related to video locking up only, and never audio.
I think the first step is to upgrade your USB cables (which I'm doing this week) and then go from there.
If your cables worked 100% before then I wouldn't bother.
Bet you any money that if you use Ean's new TSI it works fine. They changed enough in 1.1.1 to make older TSIs cause crashes, no mention of it in the changelog but since switching to a TSI made with 1.1.1 I have had no problems.
Stupid incommunicative NI.
I still use the 1.6 .tsi with no issues.
Yes, on a mac. This is about problems on 1.1.1 on the Windows version.
It was my first time actually using the VCI, so just to be safe, I'm going straight to Best Buy at lunch today to upgrade my cables too!
Jack Bastard: Good point on the TSI, I didn't think of that. Makes since that 1.4 wasn't made for TPro 1.1.1 I will give 1.6 a try. Thanks.
Please read the whole thread fully before commenting. Thanks.

It's common courtesy to read threads, manuals, whatever before sticking your oar in, wouldn't you agree?
:)
It's common courtesy to provide all relative information in your posts or you're subject to people like me who don't like to assume what you're talking about. Basically, be clear...your post was [obviously] subject to ambiguity.
I'm done responding to this, we are not adding any value to this topic.
um... my cables worked 100% of the time before they stopped working. It's a good, cheap, and easy way to correct a problem.
Hell, my cables and everything have always worked 100% of the time outside of a club environment, and still to this day the only problems I have are in the club environment.
Switching out the cables has worked for me, might work for them too.
Absolutely mate, I've had dodgy cables before.
It just seems a bit odd that they should start to go dodgy at exactly the same time as he updates his copy of traktor....
Oh, I agree. But it's a quick check.
Right now everyone is quick to blame 1.1.1, just want to make sure we're covering our bases, is all :)
Thanks agian guys... PS: my local Best Buy and Guitar Center don't have 3ft USB Cables... WTF! The hunt continues after work. PEACE
