Hey, the one thing I don't get... Since the MM has the USB hub built in... Why not put one on the studio? It would make the studio that much more interesting for people who want an all-in-one solution to get started with but want to feel like they've got the most extensible solution as well.

MM-1 goes perfectly next to studio 4A. Mixer module can provide direct access to all four line faders without switching decks on studio and overcome soft takeover. As well as filter or gain knobs on the fly.

The Studio 4a isn't part of the modular family. This is why it also doesn't have the locking track on the bottom. The whole idea behind the Studio 4a is that it's an all-in-one controller that handles all of the basic needs of a new DJ.
That said, it does fit right next to the modular CMD controllers, so nothing is stopping someone from using them together if they wanted. But putting a hub on the 4a just confuses the primary use case.

I love these new controllers too and plan to buy a couple of 'm. I do have a question though: did I spot on the pics that you can't chain 'm? Do I need a separate hub?
Also a future midi mixer / multi-channel soundcard combo with individual channel output indication would be lovely IMHO. :)
Another small thing: I'm going to use these with Live and since I love direct mapping a flat setting for the PL-1 would be easier for me too. It's no deal-breaker though.

The CMD MM-1 features a built-in USB HUB, so you can link other controllers to it.
Cheers! I'm aware of it, but I'm not sure right now if I'm going to use that one...
There's no other option to "link" the controllers, so you'll need an external USB hub then. They're cheap and very portable though, plenty of discussions about hubs here on DJTT forums already.

Once again, no prob, I just prefer the lowest possible number of separate boxes, which is also the reason I asked for the mixer / sound card combo.
These things combine beautifully and it would be awesome if you could chain them IMO.
