I agree 82.6% with the jogs (for most genres). My equipment is in my sig, so I obviously don't miss jog wheels. I just don't understand why people would bend what they're doing to a controller that was obviously designed for another program…but I'm a very visual/spatial person. If hardware things don't sorta kinda flow from the software UI and vice-versa, then I get confused easily.

I'm actually surprised that I don't hate the X1s just because the effects knobs are oriented vertically instead of horizontally…I think the only reason is just how little I use effects.

You really do not need jogs, as long as other types of controls are present.

Only using rotaries and buttons for MIDIs myself.

I don't get jog wheels.

Like some of the other people said, I use it like a dual MF setup. This mapping here is the one I'm using and I think that site also had a mapping image. Really I just wanted it for more cue buttons and sliders to handle the effects slots.

This controller has a great feel to it so to whoever said "there are much better controllers for that" I would have to disagree. I think for the price this is a great deal and just because it was made for Ableton doesn't mean it won't work well mapped to any other piece of software (it's just a controller after all, no duct tape was required to get it to run in Traktor). Anyways I've also considered transitioning to Ableton and this gives me expandability in the future :)

@Jesc: That's quite similar to my setup. Quick question though about the latency- what have you dialed into Traktor? I sometimes get dropouts and stuff. Still haven't found the cause for those; thought it might be because of the Maschine and Traktor running on the same Mac, but haven't found my Maschine-CD, so no installing on my MBAir so far.

@Tigris I have the latency @5.5ms for both programs. The midi clock is off a bit even if you offset it, and its still real buggy, Im using it to drop beats manually which is fun.

Hm, gotta try the latency a bit more- right now maschine runs on my setup with a 67 offset, but at least it runs in time -.-

Weird. In my testing, Live follows Traktor just about perfectly. I haven't done it for more than like 45 minutes at a time, but I was impressed.

In regards to using the APC40 for Traktor....

I know its overkill....in a way.....but the killer thing for me is not having to change modes....like i would have to on the VCI100.
I have all 8 Cue Buttons blinking and waiting for me to touch em....play buttons....pitch bend....Insta Loops.....Insta FX.....and FX bank selectors....Browser control section....all my FX.

So its my Deck A and B and FX. The VCI is now used to X Fade between Deck C and D. Either 2 sample decks basically or a scratch deck and a sample deck.

Used it this morning at the NYE party......blew their minds!

Its AWESOME for Traktor......in my hybrid setup.
