Who Was I Before Dubstep?

dubstep is possibly the most diverse genre around. The stuff your thinking of is the very dancefloor dnb/electro stuff. Look up some of the list I mentioned.

i have enjoyed dubstep alot, i like coolin out listening to the darker stuff, just makes me feel good. gonna be writing all these names down

hey all, im jus kinda gettin into dubstep too and was wondering if you could suggest some more dancefloor stuff. jus so i can drop it into some sets and hopefully convert sum peeps. but i cant play the darkest shit out. so any suggestions for more dancefloor and dare i say it mainstream would be great. chur :)

edit: also if anyone could suggest a REALLLY good dubstep set that would be great. nothing like getting to know a genre with a set.

one of the best dark/dancefloor dubstep sets out. excision knows how to lay it down. this is possibly the most dl'd dubstep set around.

I'll concede that. I haven't done my due diligence on it as much as other genres.

If you want to drop some more accessible tunes Rusko is def first stop, just dont play too many of his carnival tunes lol

Funny to see how Dubstep comes and goes over the last few years.
About 3 - 4 years ago it was quite big in Berlin over here in Germany, while other cities allways had empty dancefloors after playing the first bars of a tune.
It allmost died about two years ago and the only way to catch a few tracks was coming to a club early, where some Drum'n'Bass or Breakbeat DJs played some Dubstep tunes in their warmup sets.
Then more and more Reggae- and Dancehall-Soundsystems got into Dubstep last year and allways take their handmade soundsystems to the clubs, and I think since then it's coming back again.
But also when I run one of the biggest Dubstep events in Southern Germany with my crew, I have to be honest and have to say that after more than five years playing Dubstep, Grime and related I still like it, but at the moment there's kind of an overdose to me. And even Snoop Dogg havin' a Dubstep tune out now, doesn't make it better.
By the way it's quite easy to produce wobblin' basslines like Rusko, Benga, Skream and all the others. Just check YouTube, there's a tutorial about Native Instruments Massive which is all the producers first choice for creating heavy basslines.
At the moment there are more and more 4x4 Bassline tunes, Fidget, Bmore and other tunes comming out using exactly the same plugin (Massive) for heavy basslines, and I think most Dubstep is more like music for meditation or smokin' weed. But bringing heavy wobblin' basslines to other music between 130 and 140 BPM is a sureshot and guaranteed dancefloorkiller!

but i agree with you 75er with the smoking weed everytime i listen to it, i just want to roll a blunt up sit back and relax.
