Not really it depends how you go about it.
When i was in a band and put on my own shows or helped others i always turned a profit.
I would rather put on a night with local talent and avoid big names.
as you dont need big names to get people through the door its all about promotion, using a big name to get people in is lazy and costly
Once the ball is running and you have a night going where you know people are gonna turn up,and you have a bit of money to play with then you start booking the big names.
its all about who you know and what you know.
Sponsorship really is vital.
and the way to get this is by putting on a few local nights getting the crowds in.
at the end of the day if me and you start emailing company's asking for this that and this, they are gonna ask whats in it for us. but if we have records of numbers etc... we have a better chance of making it worth there while.
The good thing about a weekend is that lots of djs can play - hopefully each dj will bring a few heads
Would be a great idea, depending on how many of us central scotland guys would be interested we could run a bus or two down, (if it was in NW england it would be easier than getting to wales mind you)
I know, it got put back as that we had three from the team of four having to pull back due to personal agenda's.
(I for one had to move two times and became a father. So that was a busy enough year from me)
But let me know and Hedgehog and myself are more than willing to help out. ;)
(Hedgehog due to his MIDIfight Club succes and me for involvement of DJTT crew.)
