You do know that the history of all your sessions is saved under 'Archive', right?
Two things I'd like to see:
A "Day and Night" mode that reverses the gui. I love the dark layout for most of my gigs, but I've had outdoor shows that started earlier on in the day, and it's brutal to look at a dark screen during the day.
For the browser, the ability to sort multiple columns at once. What I mean by that is have my primary sort column be say the import date field, and then within that sort, to have the option to sort by BPM. It's a small thing that would make finding songs easier for me.
I didn't know that. thanks for that one. That would have been helpful to know before my computer got messed up and wipped all my traktor and itunes settings.
Vst support. Got a TON of effect vst's that might be amazing for live playing D=
I'd like to see an SDK released so that programmers could interface directly into the Traktor code and produce interesting plugins/hacks like you can with Ableton Live. Support for a re-arrangable GUI would be pretty sweet (and it'd take Traktor back to its original roots lol). Most importantly I'd like to see NI bring back the standard XML files they use for mappings... it's so annoying that you can no longer edit mapping files in notepad. If not, at least make the mapping window size adjustable!!
And as others have said, better beat detection, proper pitch detection and itunes integration (or a much better method for organising large amounts of music).
even vdj has a programmers sdk. u can do almost *anything* with it from what i've seen, so...
* programmers api
* customisable layout (with option for overlapping waveforms)
* improved mapping window
* non-encrypted tsi's so they can be editted externally, don't really care what the format is so long as it's open
* post fader effects when using internal routing
* vst support
* new beatcounter 'out' mapping option that counts beats 1 thru 16 or 32 and then repeats, or even 1-8, would be very very useful for using with external code
I don't think there will ever be an SDK for traktor. I do think in 3 the layout issues will be addressed and there will be a better controller manager.
smart playlists and flexible beatgrids.
i doubt there'd ever be an sdk or vst support - but i can dream ;) who knows tho... with vdj8 and "the one" on the horizon maybe NI will have to add some more flexible options to traktor... there *has* to be a better controller manager sometime, i'm surprised they haven't done that already
what's funny is that people talk down about vdj all the time when it actually has some great features like advanced mapping (much much more advanced than traktor), vst support and extensive api, never mind flexible layouts too. vdj8 may be interesting... it's def too expensive now tho, so i'm not prepared to buy it at 300usd. i'm sure i'll buy "the one" tho when it comes out...
