The future of NI resides on the software part.
We already have buttons, touchscreens, jogwheels, touchstrips, knobs, faders... Even lasers and motion sensors! So, it doesn't make much sense bring a product to run behind all those different manufacturers out there. They SHOULD make TP stronger, flexible and more customizable.
Brace yourselves, Virtual Seraktor Pro DJ is coming.
Native Instruments has just signed a deal with a controversial artist to be the poster child for Traktor Pro 3. Behold DJ R.Kelly. Native Instruments will only release R. Kelly remix sets. Most of which is the sound of flutes and hi fidelity urine samples.

I'm yet to really use F1 to their full ability, i think i'd rather see 4 X1s flipped horizontally (2 x2 stacked) with horizontal touchstrips, it makes way more sense to me anyway. Also with no mixer as i use an external one.
So hopefully NI would come up with a Maschine Pro style LEDS for each deck
Would love to see something like this as an addition to a future lineup. Bit of a mockup I did a short while back.

I feel that the whole built in screen thing is farcical. I have the Maschine studio and regularly use 2000n's and if say tomorrow, the Greek God of screens (Visionicus?) came down and banished all embedded screens from DJ/Producer hardware, I genuinely wouldn't be that worse off.
Firstly I don't see anything new coming for a few months at least unless NI spring a big surprise which I suppose is always possible. I think NI has done a great job with its modular units such as x1/z1/f1 which allows DJs to use in any combination effectively allowing us to put together the functionally we need individually as DJs, I would like to see a modular jog wheel unit although I think NI is concentrating more on touch strips and if we do see a new controller I imagine the jog wheels may be one of the first things that disappear in favor of more f1 style features. The remix deck is feature that is greatly under used IMO and also a feature that has a huge amount of potential for future development. I know many people wish to see maschine incorporated better with traktor and I'm sure this is a possibility either within the existing remix deck or maybe as a new flavor of deck, maschine deck?? With all this being said any new controller would need a lot more pads and with space being limited (I see many complain about the size of the s4 and it not fitting in booths) it brings us back to jog wheels being replaced by touch strips which I think could actually be a good comprimise and the gestures used would work well with any future maschine intergration (editing samples etc. Finally hi res screens seem very gimmicky to me on a DJ controller. The idea of the screens on something like maschine studio is to take the producer away from the computer screen but a digital DJ needs to see the screen for a variety of reasons and until we get controllers with their own OS that only need a usb stick/hard drive hi res screens just seem a little redundant and also would push up the price

my dream become real if the new Traktor incorporate Maschine (or maybe a light version specially done for Traktor as a plugin) in place of one track/remix/live input deck.. so we can use Maschine as a MF Twister already do.
I heard they're making a controller with just one large knob in the middle
It will be a dedicated flanger fx knob
I bet its something with remix decks. Traktor is leading software for remix decks. So i guess they want to expand this advantage.
Just my opinion. :D
So, now that there is another leak from an online store regarding Komplete 10 and the new keyboards as mentioned, I dare say that we can begin to expect a S8 to be available before the end of the year.
No, because we have no friggin' wether there even is one.
^I'll help you join the dots a bit on my line of reasoning and deduction with the following:
http://forum.djtechtools.com/attachm...1&d=1406071386
http://forum.djtechtools.com/attachm...7&d=1409326951
Note in the first image, there is talk of Komplete 10 and several new keyboards, along with mention of a S8 and new software to go with it. Then note the details in the second image, which confirms the upcoming release of Komplete 10 and the keyboards mentioned in the first image. Therefore, it is not unreasonable to speculate that a S8 is on the way.

Right...
So because there is Komplete 10 it must mean the S8 is real? That's like saying Spiderman is real because New York exists.
No, that's like Spiderman is real because somebody said at the next New York Vigilante convention, they're going to introduce the actual Spiderman and also Fantastic Four.
Then everyone cries bullshit on the Fantastic Four, which is what everyone wants to see.
And then Spiderman turns out to be real.
Wow, this is pretty cool vid of NI's upcoming keyboards.

Yea... looks absolutely awesome!!
Unfortunately, way out of my price range. Ableton Push is still my first choice.
^Yeah, I'd be looking at the S49 minimum if I end up purchasing one for music production or live performance. I might even just go the full hog and grab the S61 instead.
DJTT got a first peek.

Feels like an Ableton Push with Xfer Records' 'Cthulhu' built in.
I guess it's safe to say S8 is coming soon...
It'll be interesting to see if NI renames its DJ hardware line to Traktor and leaves the Kontrol name for their new line of keyboards / producer tools.
So whether it's the Kontrol S8 or Traktor S8, it's pretty much a sure thing it's coming...
I'm calling October announcement, November release!
Can't wait!
So let me just get my head around this... It's £429 for the 25 key one, which already makes it one of the most expensive Midi keyboards you can actually buy, at only 25 keys. That's not including the whopping price tag of 61.
But if you don#t spend £429 on software also, you can't even use the majority of it's features that give it the original value?
Yeah I'll stick to Komplete 9 and my crappy K61 thanks.
Hey guys,
Just a little heads up that we are taking pre-orders for all of these in the DJTT Store and they should be ready to ship on October 1st. You can find more info about them there as well
Komplete Kontrol S25 - $499
Komplete Kontrol S49 - $599
Komplete Kontrol S61 - $699

Looks kind of real to me!
Only thing that makes mmh? is: It says Traktor Pro is included and i was pretty sure Pro 3 is just around the corner!
What do you think?
I don't like it at all. This new controller (if it's the real deal) is aimed at live remixers only.
No jogs at all, eh? Wonder if that means they'll be releasing modular jogs?
I vote for real ;)
I vote for Bullshit with a capital B. Why couldn't it just be a typo? What sense does an S8 make? 8 decks, seriously?
If you check the article, it's not 8 decks... it's just a model number.
4 decks + 4 fx banks = 8?
seems possible given:
- tech shown for the maschine studio screens and x1 mk2 touch strips
- a response to all the new stuff goin on with Serato
wonder if it would have DVS?
Yeah, the screens certainly gives it a "keeping up with the neighbors" air of reasonableness.
Here is Google's cache of the page at Amazon, rather than looking at someone's screenshot of it.
If it's bullshit, then Amazon is in on the joke.
Here's a direct link to the Google cache of the page.
I think its the real deal tbh, and if it is it looks good, apart from the 4 indpendent volume faders for the remix decks. It seems like alot of real estate used up for something that the majority of people are not going to use.
