I have the fat knobs on the filters of my SR and I simply made the end of the hole round again by removing a bit of the lip. Not over the entire length, but just enough so it goes down far enough. If I don't it floats too far above the faceplate.

The fader caps sit a little high, but they work. I have them on my S4 right now though.
