aren't we glad solder is more like writing in pencil than pen? trial and error works in answering electronic questions! sometimes the parts get fried though... fortunately, most of it is cheep!

Got a call from the machine shop. Cover should be ready on Mon/Tues. As of last night it looks like.....

Definitely right on both accounts.

Thanks, just trying to keep a running tab and encourage those who think this may be out of their league to rethink it and give it a whirl. I went into this blind and found that the hardest part is trusting your machinist to cut the perfect holes. LOL *fingers crossed*

Im am no machinist and i cut the holes myself with a step drill piece, admitedly they wernt perfect :p But it was nothing a piece of plastic to backup the holes and some car bog to fill the gaps and reposition the holes didnt fix ;)

So if anyones scared about doing it themselves and making a in the cutting process it is quite possible to correct the mistakes without anyone knowing any the wiser.

Its pretty imporant if you are repairing the holes with any kind of filling compound that you sand back the edged of where the metal and the bog meet so the hole doesnt crack open again.

A dremel is a really really handy tool to have when doing this mod job.

think car bog/bondo would be a good way to seal the casing (square holes) around the arcade buttons?

Ok, so I finally finished. Sorry for crappy quality (cell phone). My machinist ended up drilling the holes to close to the front, so I had to sand the bottom tray back. That took forever...
Here is the end product. Just getting familair with it, but first impressions are great. The response on the arcade buttons is fast as hell.

2) Is the diode wire that was attached to the original circuit board useless like the LED wires (for this mod)?
