Any of the super oem turntables will basically be less fancy versions of the stanton st150. Same motor and everything, just less additional fancy features.
Willinfluence: I'm curious, why do you say that? There are turntables with better motors etc with fancy stuff like pitch lock, line out etc, what makes you think nothing is comparable?
They are rock solid, my 1200's are about 15 years old and I've never had any problems with them, never been serviced either.
The pitch on them are still pretty spot on too.
They are used in 99.9% of clubs and are the industry standard.
They will also be a great investment too since Panasonic have stopped production.
Yeah I agree that there is other turntables out there but with more fancy stuff that's on them the more that could go wrong with them.
But those are arguments in favour of technics, not against other turntables.
I'n not saying technics are bad, just that I don't see why they are supposedly unbeatable.
I'm not saying that their unbeatable,
it's a personal preference what you want to use to be honest.
But I think that 1200's/1210's are industry standard because they are reliable and rock solid.
I think the Stanton STRs have beaten the Technics by a long shot for a long time.
Arguing this from a mechanical and capability standpoint, nothing else.
If every sl1200/1210 disappeared from the face of the earth today, I feel like a lot of folks who don't move to controllers would use these.
They just don't look half as cool as the Technics decks.
