I believe that DJTT has an inbuilt anti-elitism guiding hand. There is something about this board that calls out BS and elitism and noob-hate and any of the other traits that you see on other boards.

The regular or knowledgable members are quickly brought to bare if they behave in a way that is not correct.
There is one set of rules and it applies to all no matter what your standing is in the community. I have stepped out of line before and i ave been given a bollocking and i have accepted it.

There isnt a single mod on here that wont stomp on ANY member should he or she step out of line.

There are other forums were some members run riot and make people feel small if their knowledge is not as great.

I do not believe this place is becoming elitist.
I believe that friendships are stuck up and at time they may seem like cliques but thats true of all forums. It encourages buddy conversation and lightens the mood. Sometimes it can derail a thread (as it did with yours) and sometimes it just needs someone to say "yeah ok guys playtime is over" and the board returns to harmony. No big shakes.

Members are judged on the the words they type not on their post count and especially not on their knowledge if its expressed in a condescending way.


As for the YouTube comparison. I believe that to be way over the top. The last person to call someone a "f*g or a f*ggot" (which seems to be the word of choice on YouTube especially in the States) got such a roasting it hasn't appeared again.

A bit of healthy banter and some well meant piss taking is not the same as direct insults and certainly isnt meant as elitism.
Its just goofing off.

I entered these forums by asking whether or not there was a better way of using Traktor than with a mouse :o. I have never before been welcomed with such enthusiasm and honesty by people who I have since learned are humble in their knowledge and experience. DJTT is for everyone by anyone. That is the most non-elitist attitude I know.
