If they build it anything like the MPC Rennaissance, my body will not be ready.

Guitar Center has to add tax because you will always pay tax in your state and "tax" isn't considered part of the match price. They have always been pretty good when matching prices and discounts. I bought my Numark NDX-800 from Guitar Center. At the time the NDX-800 had only been out a little while, they had 1 left and it was an open box return. The person had it for a day and returned it to get a Pioneer CDJ. They gave me the open box discount plus whatever sale was going on at the time so I ended up paying $297 when it was prices at $399 and they said I could bring it back and get a brand new unopended 1 if I wanted.
NI feeling threatened by the VCI 400? With good reason to. Gives me a major headache on what one I want to buy now though and no, I'm not starting another VCI or S4 debate. No, Siree Bob.
I think well definitely see new hardware. In the 3 years maschine has been around I don't believe they've ever had on it sale. Don't quote me on this.
i quite like guitar center and they've always treated me very well with price matching and customer service, plus i've met several cool djs and producers that work there. so, i feel it's worth it to pay the tax for the perks i have gotten from them. i've had several deals from them that were lower than any online retailers even with tax. for instance they currently sell the krk rokit 10 sub for $370 new, right now there is a 15% sale going on which puts it around $340 with tax. the lowest i have seen that go for is $350 online. so they are great if you know what to look for.
they sometimes get a bad rap from people who say they are clueless and don't know anything about any products but i think they know enough. i suppose that highly depends on the stores and individuals as well, but all of them here seem to know their stuff well enough. i mean it would be nearly impossible for someone in the pro audio section to know about every single hardware and software in detail. the manual for maschine is well over 300 pages. i guess i'm just the type of person to research stuff myself in advance so i never really need to ask them any questions when i'm there.
Broke down and took the plunge.
Maschine Mikro on its way
I just got home from Guitar Center with the Maschine. Had a 15% off coupon so out the door it was like $369 after tax. The salesperson told me that they (GC) buy it at wholesale cost at $365, so as an employee he would pay that + tax... so I got a wicked good deal. Installing the software right now...
