Hey my friends..new to the site but just recently bought the de on dnx1600 and I love it but just like this guy cannot get traktor to link.. I will check some videos when I get home but it seems to all work but it says scratch disabled when I try to calibrate my turntables via DVS.. Any help would be appreciated. Playing a grad party this weekend and I'm trying not to return this beautiful piece of gear. Running windows 8.1 and traktor scratch duo and two technics
So, I bought myself a shiny x1600 with traktor scratch pro 2, secondhand so no tech support from a shop.
After spending many many hours / days configuring final scratch 1.0 on win Xp years and years ago I was looking forward to the 'certified' denon mixer and a 5 min setup. How wrong I was!!
The Traktor 'how to' for this specific mixer is terrible, no mention of installing the denon driver on my pc (win 8.1) which I eventually worked out from another vid, nor ensuring the firmware update is installed. Obvious stuff, so why don't Traktor list the pre-requisites / min requirements?
It looks like my pc recognises the mixer as I can see it listed in device manager. The mixer also lists use b so it can see my laptop.
The problem I have is that the inputs and outputs in Traktor are all wrong, and there's a big red warning message in Traktor about the outputs not being correct - but I can't seem to change anything. The inputs look nothing like what Traktor say should be there either.
I'm now at my folks for a few days so can't fiddle for a while, but seeing if anyone here can help me.

You haven't really given us much to work on other that you're using x1600 with TSP2 on a win8.1 laptop. When you get back to the mixer, post us the following info:Quote:

Now I'm back at home I've had a chance to do the following;
1. Updated mixer firmware (1010 > v2000)
2. Checked the mixer driver 'Denon DJ DN-X1600' (v7.0.0.351)
3. Updated Traktor 2 to v2.10.0 13 (x64)
ALL SEEMS TO BE WORKING OKAY NOW, although my input & output setting look nothing like the screenshots in the 'setting up Traktor pro 2 w/ Denon.... (http://www.native-instruments.com/en...-x-1600-mixer/)

I also have three Denon options in my preferences > audio setup list (Denon ASIO vs 1600 ASIO vs 1600 WASAPI) and dont know which is optimal??

Should I now leave alone as its 'working' or might this cause a headache when I start to learn other stuff further down the line?

Screenshots are too small to see anything :( Try uploading to a external site then posting links.
But, a few things off the top of my head:
1.) input & output setting look nothing like the screenshots in the 'setting up Traktor pro 2 w/ Denon - thats because they used Mac for the NI guide and Macs have a different labeling of USB channels. Don't copy the NI guide, set them like this:
A: 1/2
B: 3/4
C: 5/6
D: 7/8
If you want the A and B Traktor decks to be in the center of the mixer, set them:
A: 3/4
B: 5/6
C: 1/2
D: 7/8
2.) Set your frequency (on the mixer) to 44.1khz and then in Traktor under Preferences-Audio also to 44.1khz. 96khz/48khz means nothing for sound quality and it will force your CPU to work harder for nothing. Set buffer and sample (128 or 256) under Traktor Audio preferences to produce something like 10ms or under latency. Lower is better but setting it too low will produce crackling, pops and dropouts under heavy CPU load (multiple decks+FX applied) so test a little, try to find a "sweet spot"
3.) Always use ASIO drivers in Traktor. WASAPI or USB drivers are high latency drivers that offer only 1 stereo channel output and are meant for "normal" windows applications so windows installs them at the same time but only ASIO drivers offer multichannel low latency output need for DJ-ing.
4.) Denon released recently (actually several months ago) 64-bit ASIO drivers needed if you use 64-bit version of Traktor (that was automatically installed with 2.10 version of Traktor). I don't know which one is that: the "DENON DJ ASIO Driver" or the "Denon DJ X-1600 ASIO" (you haven't told use which one you selected to get that multichannel output)

Thanks for the heads up SlayForMoney - yes thats what mine look like :) As said, it all seems to be working fine, and I'd picked up elsewhere that I should be running at 44.1khz so have changed that. I will look at the latency when I'm next on.Quote:
